Biography
Jan Grzymski is a political scientist teaching and doing research in European Studies. He works as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of European Studies at Jagiellonian University in Kraków. He is a researcher in the SHAPEDEM-EU Horizon Europe project. In the past, he was a postdoc fellow and later an Assistant Professor at the Centre of Migration Research at the University of Warsaw (2019-2023), working on two projects about the securitisation of migration and emergency mobility governance during COVID-19. He was also a lecturer at the English double degree programme of Lazarski University and Coventry University in European Studies and International Relations (2011-2019). Jan co-led the UACES Research Network 'The Limits of EUrope: Challenging the Crisis of European Integration' with Dr Russell Foster and Dr Monika Brusenbauch Meislova (2019-2022). He was awarded the Corbridge Trust Scholarship by Robinson College, Cambridge University, UK (2015, 2018) and the Best Book Prize 2016 awarded by the Polish Association of European Studies for the book 'The Return to Europe - The Polish Discourse. Critical Perspective' (in Polish), September 2017. Jan was a Visiting Fellow at King's College London, UK (July-September 2018); University of Amsterdam (UvA), The Netherlands (April 2016); Royal Holloway, University of London (July-September 2015); KU Leuven University, Belgium (April 2014). Jan is also passionate about creating and using innovative teaching methods for teaching European Studies. He designed the educational board game about Brexit negotiations, 'How to Win Brexit?'.
