'What stands out for me as a UACES member is how the association, in praxis, recognises BIPOC scholarship and off-centre approaches in the study of Europe. As a doctoral researcher from the global South, I am grateful to UACES for funding my ethnographic research on EU trade policy. Beyond grant opportunities, outreach within the UACES Graduate Forum is another mileage for members. Thanks to the generous support of UACES staff, I could promote more widely an international PhD conference I was co-organising at my home university.'

UACES has been my academic ‘home’ since the early days of my PhD. It offers an open and diverse community that values difference and innovation. Its activities offer a unique forum for receiving constructive feedback, building networks and exchanging ideas beyond academic research. I encourage all researchers – whatever the stage of their career – to engage with UACES and enjoy being part of this dynamic European studies community.

UACES is a great intellectual space to meet the emerging and established voices of European Studies. Amidst the COVID-19 imposed restrictions, UACES virtual events offer an uninterrupted opportunity to meet peers and hear them elaborating on their research findings and future plans. UACES should be given a credit for keeping European Studies exciting and highly receptive to various influences.

‘I am very glad to be a UACES testimonial. Since I presented my very first paper at the Student Forum Conference as a PhD student, UACES has always been a friendly and inspiring environment where to present my research and become aware of the work of others. Thanks to UACES I met some of the brightest scholars in European studies. I would recommend it to any academic in this field.‘

"I have been a member for 30 years. UACES is the perfect context for me to meet people and to further my research. The whole interdisciplinarity of it I find fascinating. There are linguists, like me, there are lawyers, economists, political scientists, sociologists. And that all very much fits in with how I've approached my own research area."
