Biography
Dr. Sebastian Heidebrecht is a Postdoctoral Researcher (Universitätsassistent) at the Centre for European Integration Research (EIF), Department of Political Science, University of Vienna. Sebastian’s research looks at how actors, processes and institutions shape the digital transformation of European economies and societies, with a particular focus on the European Union. Prior to his current position, Sebastian was a Research Associate at the University of Duisburg-Essen and a Lecturer at both Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf and ESSCA Angers. Sebastian edited special issues on the EU’s digital sovereignty and the political role of the ECB. His work is published in leading political science journals such as the Journal of Common Market Studies and the Journal of European Public Policy. Sebastian holds a PhD from the University of Duisburg-Essen and studied at the University of Jena and Sciences Po Paris. In addition to his academic employments, Sebastian worked for a financial services provider in Amsterdam and he was a Head of Office at the European Parliament.
