Funding for UACES Conference Attendees

Caring Responsibilities

UACES recognises that it is not always easy for people with caring responsibilities to attend Annual Conferences in person. We want to make this a little easier by offering funding to those who need it.

We have a limited pot of funding available to those who need assistance with caring responsibilities. Delegates attending the in-person conference will be able to apply for a fixed grant of €100 to help with covering the costs of caring. This can be used in the most appropriate way for you and those for whom you care.

To be eligible for a caring grant from UACES you will need to confirm that:

• You are presenting a paper at the UACES conference
• You would not be able to attend the conference without this support
• You do not normally have access to caring support on the days you are attending the UACES conference 
• You don't have access to other funding

In order to apply for funding please complete this form. All applications for funding must be received by 10 May 2024. If we receive more applications than we are able to fund, all applicants who meet the criteria will be put into a draw and selected at random. We will confirm all funding by 31 May 2024 at the latest.

You can apply for both a caring grant and a visa grant if eligible.

Visa Requirements

UACES recognises that it is not always easy for people who require visas to attend the Annual Conferences in person. We want to make this a little easier by offering funding to those who need it.

We have a limited pot of funding available to help those who need assistance with visa costs. Delegates attending the in-person conference will be able to apply for a grant of up to €100 to help towards covering the costs of visas. 

To be eligible for a visa grant from UACES you will need to confirm that:

• You are presenting a paper at the UACES conference
• You require a visa in order to attend the conference in Belfast
• You would not be able to attend the conference without this support
• You don't have access to other funding (eg from your university)

To apply for the funding, please complete this form. All applications for funding must be received by 15 May 2023. If we receive more applications than we are able to fund, all applicants who meet the criteria will be put into a draw and selected at random. We will confirm all funding by 31 May 2023 at the latest.

You can apply for both a visa grant and a caring grant if eligible.

Travel Support

Student, PhD Researcher, and Early-Career Members of UACES are eligible to receive for travel support for the Annual Conference.

UACES will pay up to 50% of you travel expenses for travel to/from Trento up to a maximum of £100, or £75 if travelling within the same country. Please read the full terms of this funding here.
