The Faculty of European Studies was established in 1998 and has a contemporary focus on training future public officials, diplomatic attaches, competitive entrepreneurs, and experts in the fields of business management, marketing and advertising.

Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) is an internationally recognized scientific institution. It is the third largest higher education institution in Latvia and a reputation leader among universities in Latvia. RSU has strong historical roots in medicine, but, over several decades, has come to possess a significant intellectual and theoretical base in social sciences, humanities, and law. Since 1998, the university has developed a particular academic strength in European studies and international relations; global, national and local governance; public administration and civil society; as well as political communication, media studies and social anthropology.

The Faculty of European studies trains future public officials, diplomats, competitive entrepreneurs, and experts in the fields of business management, marketing and advertising. The Faculty of European Studies is divided into two departments: the Department of Political Science and the Department of International Business and Economics. Both departments put a strong focus on the European dimension in their study curricula offering such study programmes as "International Relations - European Studies", "International Governance and Diplomacy",  "International Business and Sustainable Economy", "International Business and Law", and others. In the research, the Faculty of European studies emphasises interdisciplinarity looking at the European Union affairs from the perspectives of international security, law and business, strategic communication and civil society
