2026 Annual Conference Travel and Accommodation Microgrant
UACES Microgrants provide £100 to £500 in flexible funding to support members at the start of their academic careers. This round is open to PhD, Early-Career and Individual Members who have submitted a paper proposal to present at the UACES 56th Annual Conference in Prague. Funding in this round is dedicated solely to supporting travel and accommodation costs for the conference.
The scheme recognises the financial pressures facing researchers today and offers a simple and transparent application process. This special conference-focused round enables eligible members to attend the Annual Conference by helping to ease the cost of essential travel and accommodation.

Who Can Apply?

- Eligible Applicants
- PhD, Early Career, or Individual UACES members
- Members from any region or institution
- Those without access to equivalent institutional funding
- Applicants must have submitted a paper proposal for the 56th UACES Annual Conference
- Not Eligible If...
- You have received a UACES Microgrant in the past 2 years
- You are receiving other UACES funds (e.g. Research Networks, Scholarships)
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
We strongly encourage and support applications from members who:
- Are from the Global South
- Identify as BIPOC
- Work in underrepresented fields in European Studies
These factors will be taken into consideration during the application review.
The Decision Process
All applications are reviewed by the UACES Microgrants Jury.
- For UACES, you will need to provide
- A short blog post on your research and presenting at the conference within 1 month of the annual conference
- An expenses claim (with receipts) within 1 month – reimbursements are processed within a further month

- Can I apply again next year?
Only if it’s been more than 2 years since your last Microgrant.
- Can I use my Microgrant for conference registration?
No. This Microgrant is purely for travel and accommodation funding for the 56th UACES Annual Conference
- Do I need to be a member to apply for a Microgrant?
Yes – only active PhD, Early-Career and Individual UACES members can apply for a Microgrant.
- Can I access other UACES funding at the same time?
No – Microgrant recipients cannot hold other UACES funding (like research network grants) simultaneously.
