ESSCA Space Policy Workshop

Canterbury, United Kingdom

19-20 April 2018

The standing research group on European space policy has grown in size and activity in recent years.

From the 2016 workshop came the Space Policy special issue on the 'Popularisation of Space' edited by Harald Koepping Athanasopoulos and Thomas Hoerber, and from the 8th workshop, held in Cambridge in 2017 a new book European Space Policy: Past Present and Future is forthcoming with Routledge. Two previous books European Space Policy, edited by Paul Stephenson and Thomas Hoerber (Routledge, 2016) and Theorizing European Space Policy, edited by Emmanuel Sigalas and Thomas Hoerber (Lexington, 2016) are currently in print following successful workshop discussions.

For this 9th Space Policy Workshop, we would like to invite new paper proposals.

With a future publication opportunity in mind, we would be particularly interested in papers on the security implications of European space policy.

On this basis we invite research papers from scholars at all levels, including postgraduate students, and particularly welcome submissions from practitioners in the field.

Some travel funding is available through Arbeitskreis Europäische Integration and further funding may become available for UACES members. This is limited, but available if no departmental money is obtainable for your trip. Please indicate if you wish to apply to either pot of funding.

Please send an abstract of 150-200 words to Dr Sarah Lieberman (sarah.lieberman@canterbury.ac.uk)

Deadline: Wednesday 31st January 2018

You will be notified if your application has been successful, at the latest, a month later.

There are no registration fees for this workshop.
