UACES 48th Annual Conference

at the University of Bath

UACES Annual Conference took place at the University of Bath in 2018 and was sponsored by the James Madison Charitable Trust.

The 3-day interdisciplinary conference in contemporary European Studies featured two plenary sessions, including the JCMS Annual Lecture, a UACES Teaching & Learning Workshop and around 400 presented research papers. The conference also included social activities such as the Conference Dinner and Awards Ceremony at the stunning Roman Baths. 

 

 

Plenary 1: The Democracy and Legitimacy Challenge and the Future of Europe

The first plenary session was on 'The Democracy and Legitimacy Challenge and the Future of Europe' with Gabriele Abels (University of Tubingen), Simon Bulmer (University of Sheffield), Shada Islam (Friends of Europe) and David Galbreath (University of Bath) as Chair.

Interview with Terri Givens on Diversity, Academia, European Studies

 

Terri Givens (Consultant, Political Scientist, Executive Director of Edgemakers Institute) is interviewed by Toni Haastrup (Editor-in-Chief of JCMS: Journal of Common Market Studies) about her research on European politics, migration and issues of diversity in academia. This interview took place in advance at the UACES 48th Annual Conference (https://www.uaces.org/bath) on 3rd September 2018, where Terri delivered the JCMS Annual Lecture 2018.
