The School of Geography, Politics and Sociology (GPS) is an internationally-renowned community of academics and students, both undergraduate and postgraduate.

The School offers a range of exciting undergraduate programmes. Our teaching facilities are excellent, and the calibre of the teaching and support staff ensures a high quality teaching experience for students.

At postgraduate level we offer a range of innovative taught programmes, in addition to research programmes across the fields of geography, politics and sociology. With a postgraduate community of over 100 students, the School provides a vibrant intellectual environment for study.

The School's research is world class and internationally-focussed. In addition to the established disciplinary strengths in geography, politics and sociology, the School is a powerhouse of inter-disciplinary research. Much of its research aims to inform public debate and contribute to public policy.

The School's principal asset is its academic staff, of which there are over 150. Recruiting, retaining and supporting staff of the highest calibre ensures the quality of our teaching programmes, and underpins our acknowledged excellence as a centre of research.
