In two new books, Public Policy to Reduce Inequalities Across Europe: Hope Versus Reality (Cairney, Kippin, St. Denny, Keating) and The Politics of Health Promotion in the European Union (Godziewski), the authors examine some of the institutional, material, but also discursive reasons for this underperformance.
The book demonstrates how political obstacles to a more public health-conscious EU are institutional in nature. It argues that ‘Health in All Policies’ is essentially a political project and explores which institutional and ideational obstacles stand in the way of a healthier EU.

The EUHealthGov network is delighted to announce the next event in its seminar series. On Thursday 7 October at 14:00 (BST) we welcome Prof Meri Koivusalo (Tampere University, Finland). Meri will join EUHealthGov's Dr Charlotte Godziewski for a conversation about the public health implications of European Union trade agreements.
