One-day international workshop
"EU Cross-Border Cooperation Activities and Governance of its Eastern Neighbourhood"

On behalf of our organizing committee we invite you to take part in our one-day international workshop ÂÂÂ«EU Cross-Border Cooperation Activities and Governance of its Eastern NeighbourhoodÂÂÂ». The aim of the workshop is to discuss, inform and connect junior and well-established border and governance scholars from different regions and universities for future projects, facilitate field trips in Eastern Europe and provide a collaborative venue for researchers to discuss their work in an interdisciplinary setting.
The areas for discussion may vary but cover all aspects of cross-border cooperation issues in the EU Eastern neighbourhood, examine cross-border policies and how they shape and impact local settings. We are particularly welcoming participants who are researching borders and its governance with case studies on the Eastern Partnership countries. Applications are encouraged from interdisciplinary fields, including political science, history, sociology, public administration and language studies.
The language of the workshop is English. Presenters will be given approximately 10-15 minutes on a panel to present their ideas. One-night accommodation, all-day food, including dinner in the local restaurant will be paid for presenters. Presenters will only have to pay for their travel expenses. However, there will be a limited funding which may cover some travel expenses across Europe. Please, indicate if your need funding for travel.
Speakers will be announced in due course by email after confirming their participation. They will include leading border and governance scholars from Canada and Europe, practitioners on the EU side as well as local established academics. If you decide to take part in the workshop, please, send a short abstract (max. 1 page) and an academic CV in English not later than November 10, 2019 to email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org. Notification results will be sent to you by November 14. Contributions may be considered for publication with the Borders in Globalisation review: https://journals.uvic.ca/index.php/bigreview.
