Graduate Forum Committee Elections 2025

We currently have two positions available on the committee which will commence in December for a 2-year term from December 2025 to December 2027.

Positions Available:

  • Events Officer (Joint Position)
  • Student and ECR Representative

Key Dates

  • Nominations Close on Sunday November 30th (End of Day)
  • The election will run from Monday 1 December until Friday 12 December at 12:00 p.m.(GMT)
     

It would be desirable (but not essential) that these positions are filled by people who are still completing their PhD.

You must be a UACES member in order to run for election. Please note that group members are not eligible to stand in elections. If you are a member via a group membership and wish to stand, you should join as a PhD Researcher, Early Career, or Individual member.

The Roles Available

Events Officer
  • Develop and deliver an annual events plan (Graduate Forum Conference, Doctoral Training Academy, webinar series) with the Committee and UACES Office.
  • Represent the Graduate Forum at meetings and conferences, promoting membership benefits.
  • Chair sessions at the Graduate Forum Conference and Doctoral Training Academy.
  • Serve as the Graduate Forum representative on the UACES Events Working Group and attend virtual meetings.
  • Advocate for strategic partnerships that support UACES’ charitable objectives.
  • Deputise for the Chair when required.
Student and ECR Representative
  • Work with the Graduate Forum Committee and UACES Office to recruit new members at events and through your networks, and maintain engagement with current members.
  • Represent the Graduate Forum at meetings and conferences, promoting membership benefits.
  • Chair sessions at the Graduate Forum Conference and Doctoral Training Academy.
  • Serve as the Graduate Forum representative on the UACES Engagement Working Group and attend virtual meetings.
  • Advocate for strategic partnerships that support UACES’ charitable objectives.
  • Deputise for the Chair when required.

As well as this, GF Committee Members are expected to work together on a number of tasks and follow the general terms of reference which are outlined in the Graduate Forum Committee Terms of Reference document. Please be sure to review this before completing the nomination form.

All positions will be supported by the main UACES office. The office is available to provide guidance to role holders and will facilitate meetings of the committee. The UACES office funds travel and accommodation for the GF Committee to GF events and meetings.

What happens next?

Nominations will be accepted until the end of the day on Sunday 30 November. The election will run from Monday 1 December until Friday 12 December at 12:00PM (GMT). The outcome of the election will be announced shortly after this.

Those elected will be required to sign the Terms of Reference Agreement. The first meeting with the Graduate Forum Committee will take place online in January.
