Dept of European Studies & International Studies

King's College London

European Studies at King's began in 1992 and has earned an excellent reputation as a challenging and dynamic programme. It is an interdisciplinary degree which combines a focus on the politics, history and institutions of Europe as a whole with an in-depth study of the politics, society, language and culture of a major European country (France, Spain or Germany).

Students taking their BA in European Studies spend their third year at a leading institution in their chosen country of study: the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris for the French option, the Humboldt university in Berlin for the German option and Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona for the Spanish option. The MA in European Studies also benefits from close links with Humbolt and Sciences Po.

One of the programme's biggest strengths is its diverse and cosmopolitan student population. Students have come to King's from across the United Kingdom, continental Europe, the USA, Asia and the Middle East. On graduating, they have gone to work or study all over the world, from Brussels to Bosnia, Geneva to California, Tokyo to Washington.

The Centre for European Studies hosts a number of events with high profile speakers such as the European research seminar series as well as an annual European Week organised by students enrolled on the Bachelor programme.
