UACES & J4A Networking Opportunity with Ukrainian Law Faculties

Roundtable

The USAID Justice for All Activity (J4A) in collaboration with the University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES) is supporting Ukrainian law schools in their efforts to improve the teaching of EU law to help raise new generations of Ukrainian legal professionals with solid understanding of and skills to apply EU law to advance Ukraine’s integration into the EU.

J4A supports Ukrainian law schools in building bridges with foreign law schools with expertise in EU law and relevant professional contacts for international experience exchange and collaboration. J4A also facilitates the development of a network/community of practice that now includes more than 20 Ukrainian instructors of EU law from more than ten law schools from across Ukraine and seeks to create learning and development opportunities for Ukrainian law schools and their faculty and channel them through such a network/community of practice for greater engagement, closer people-to-people contacts, and continuous improvement.

UACES reached out to its current members who specialize on EU law to find out who among them is interested in and available for activities aimed at developing people-to-people contacts with Ukrainian faculty and, potentially, institutional contacts between their and Ukrainian law schools in the field of EU law. As a result, more than 20 UACES members signaled their interest in exploring opportunities for collaboration with Ukrainian colleagues.

On January 23, 2024, at 2:30 pm London time / 4:30 pm Kyiv time, J4A and UACES will host a 90-min online introductory meeting between interested Ukrainian and international faculty. During this virtual roundtable facilitated by J4A Legal Advisor, Artem Shaipov and UACES Events and Membership Manager, Ollie Pikington, the faculty will meet, share their experiences, development needs and possible offers of support to meet them, explore opportunities for collaboration and experience exchange going forward, and discuss the next steps.

The language of the virtual roundtable will be English.
