Conference

Multidimensional Approaches and Policies

We live in a world that is subject to constant change and high-intensity shocks, therefore, a substantial need arises for comprehending and strengthening the resilience capacity of territories. The last year marked a return of resilience to the forefront of public discourse and in recovery policies, at all levels, both European and global.

In addition, Europe's governance systems require structural transformations to make them able to develop responses to crises in line with the principles of sustainable, inclusive, and smart development. Adaptability to ever-changing contexts essentially means the ability of governments to establish new ways of action, new visions, new approaches, new path development, in a risky environment, leading to more resilience-based public policies.

In this context, the Centre for European Studies within Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi (Romania), in cooperation with Bucharest University of Economic Studies and Babes Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca organises the conference Resilient territories: multidimensional approaches and policies (hybrid event which will be held in Iasi, Romania). We intend to bring together scholars, students and stakeholders interested in new approaches in regional science.

The organisers welcome contributions on topics covering a wide range of fields (socio-economic, political, legal, geographical etc.), but not limited to: Smart specialization; Economic resilience in European Union; Digital economy; Resilience through human capital; Core-periphery patterns in times of crisis; The current challenges of Central and Eastern Europe; Resilience and geopolitics; Environmental resilience; Institutions and smart governance; Reconfigurations of the health systems; Tourism industry in the face of disruptions; European labour market; Spatial divides in terms of COVID-19 responses; Community resilience.
