Academy of Social Sciences (AcSS) Fellowship 2025

Know a leader in Social Sciences? Nominate them for AcSS Fellowship!

Recognising Outstanding Contributions to Social Science

The Academy of Social Sciences (AcSS) is now accepting nominations for new Fellows, and UACES members are invited to take part in recognising excellence across the field. This prestigious honour celebrates individuals who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the social sciences in various fields such as research, teaching, professional practice, or policy engagement.

As a UACES member, you can nominate yourself or another member who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, or influence in European Studies and the wider social sciences, including interdisciplinary fields.

Last year, six UACES members were honoured with Fellowship, highlighting the strength of our community in shaping European and social science scholarship.

Nominations to UACES close on 14 November 2025.

What Makes a Strong Nominee?

Nominees should be individuals of a suitable established status and reputation, in alignment with the following criteria:

  • Have made a substantial contribution to the wider social sciences, influencing policy, practice, or public understanding beyond their own role or institution.

  • Be leading figures in their field, such as through thought leadership, pioneering methodologies, or widely adopted innovations in research or professional practice attributable to them.

  • Demonstrate sustained engagement with social science in academia, public service, industry, or civil society.

  • Typically, academic nominees will be at or around Professorial level, with a strong research and publications record.

  • Practitioner nominees (e.g. in policy, research, or media) may qualify through innovative practice and demonstrable impact, even without extensive publications.

  • Have furthered the public understanding or application of social science, whether through communication, capacity building, or leadership in interdisciplinary collaboration.
