What is Graduate Forum?

The UACES Graduate Forum is an active network of postgraduate and early-career researchers in contemporary European Studies. It provides important opportunities for development, sharing ideas and networking.

What we do?

We provide useful resources, events and funding opportunities to build networks between those from different universities, countries and academic disciplines, and to help advance research in European Studies.

Who can join?

If your research is in European Studies or a related discipline (e.g. Political Science, IR, History, Law, Economics, Sociology, Geography, Public Policy, Modern Languages, Anthropology), the Graduate Forum is for you.

Call for Papers

 

The year 2004 marked a significant juncture in the European Union’s (EU) history, with the largest-ever enlargement to include post-communist countries from Central and Southern Europe. It not only highlighted the EU's stated commitment to promoting regional stability and integration but also raised questions about its broader implications for many applicant countries, the EU itself, and countries wishing to join the EU. The 2004 enlargement was a turning point that shaped the EU's borders, complex nature, future, and role on the global stage. Twenty years on, what do European futures look like?

We welcome proposals from all European Studies disciplines and related fields to foster cross-disciplinary conversation, including (but not limited to) Political Science, Law, Sociology, Economics, History, Gender Studies, Anthropology, International Relations and Public Policy. We hope that this conference will address the topic in various ways and from various perspectives.

The Graduate Forum runs the EuroResearch email list, a tool for sending and receiving emails about relevant events, scholarship opportunities, jobs etc. Membership of the list is open to students and postdoctoral researchers in the field of European Studies. Email admin@uaces.org to join.

Events

UACES organises the annual Graduate Forum Research Conference, the Doctoral Training Academy (DTA) each year which are specifically designed for Early-Career Researcher and other events and workshops.

Start your blog on Ideas on Europe!

UACES Members are eligible to create their own blog on the multiblog site Ideas on Europe. UACES provides an online platform for original and informed analysis and comment on European issues. Publish and promote your work and build up an audience who are interested in your research and ideas in the field of European Studies. All blog posts are posted on the dedicated Twitter channel which has over 12.5k follower. We also run the Crossroads Europe blog. As part of the Graduate Forum, you can become a guest author and publish your work on the collective blog.
