Euroscepticism in the UK and re-connecting the public with the EU
Brighton, United Kingdom
20 June 2013
The aim of the workshop is to understand the different types of opposition to European integration that currently exist in the UK and analyse the factors driving this opposition, particularly in the light of the Euro zonecrisis. Drawing on examples from other countries analysed by specialists from the SEI-based European Parties and Referendums Network (EPERN), the workshop will draw out the distinctiveness of UK Euroscepticism as well as the features that it shares with opposition to European integration in different European states. The workshop will also analyse different possible strategies for re-connecting the British public with the EU, including the proposed referendum on continued UK membership.
