EU Law Summer School

EU Law Summer School

10th June to 15th September 2013 Two months online tuition and one month in Leeds (UK)

The School of Law runs a new summer course to introduce postgraduate students to EU law. It is aimed at prospective postgraduate students who have not had the opportunity to study EU law at undergraduate level.

Why study EU law?

The European Union and its law are looked upon from all over the world as offering novel ways of transnational law and international governance. With a widely accepted principle of "primacy" of its law, the EU has managed to establish an efficient regional entity that maintains diversity between states and people.

EU law is part of the law of the land in all EU Member States and interests business in other regions because of the relevance of trade with the EU. From a more idealistic point of view, the EU and its law fascinate those looking for a model of balancing economic and social aims.

What is special about this course?

We teach this course through "blended learning". This means that we send you a comprehensive study text, along with self-study questions and electronic exercises, which enable you to study EU law in your own time and alongside other commitments.

During your stay in Leeds, you work on a topic chosen by yourself, on which you write a paper and deliver a presentation. You also take a written exam based on your online and paper studies. When you complete the course successfully, you will have a sound grounding in EU law.
