The Role of Women in International Affairs: A Transatlantic Perspective

Brussels, Belgium
7-11 July 2013

Women have played an important role in foreign affairs in both the U.S. and the EU, but their role has been overlooked in the literature. This project aims to fill a gap by drawing a comprehensive picture of the role women political leaders on the two sides of the Atlantic. It will do so by bringing together some of the best scholars, journalists and practitioners in the field, as well as women political leaders from both Europe and the U.S.

The outcome of the project will consist in a five-day conference, a book containing the proceedings of the conference and the establishment of a network of women professionals.

The conference will take place in Brussels during the second week of July 2013. The participation of prominent women professionals will ensure the interest of the media, the institutions and thus the general public.

This event will be organized by the European Center of Excellence of the University of Rome Tor Vergata in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels, Global Women's Leadership Initiative in Washington, DC and Women's Campaign International.
