Biography

Özlem Terzi is Lecturer at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Department of Political Science and Public Adminitration since August 2018. Before that she was associate professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Istanbul University. Between September 2016 and June 2018, she was also a visiting scholar at the College of Europe, Bruges. Among others, she is the author of The Influence of the European Union on Turkish Foreign Policy, published by Ashgate. She received her PhD in International Relations from the Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara. She was a DAAD Research Scholarship holder, and junior fellow at the Zentrum für Europaeische Integrationsforschung (ZEI), University of Bonn. She studied at the London School of Economics, European Institute as a Jean Monnet Scholarship holder. Her research interests include EU Foreign Policy and Diplomacy, Global Governance, EU at the UN and at G20, EU Enlargement Policy, EU-Turkey relations and Turkish foreign policy. Her most recent research focuses on Brexit and EU's external relations, Emotions in European Foreign Policy at Populist Times, and EU in the Arctic security and political economy.
