Dr Moloney is a Max Weber Fellow in the European University Institute, Florence. He studied in Ireland where he obtained a PhD in political science from the University of Limerick. He was awarded a scholarship from the University of Limerick's Department of Politics and Public Administration to carry out his doctoral research. This scholarship was replaced with the award from the Irish Research Council. The scholarship is Ireland's most prestigious award for PhD students. He has taught in the University of Limerick and the University of Leicester. His research interests are in European Union politics and legislative decision-making.
