I am a second year MPhil/PhD student at the International Relations department at the LSE where my research focuses on the role of ideas in European Union trade policy. My research explores the construction of different ideas in trade, in particular with regard to the wide trade agenda including non-tariff and beyond the border barriers. I look at the interaction between the Directorate-General of Trade and Member States in constructing a normative consensus. Previous qualifications include MA in European Studies from KU Leuven, focusing on inter- and intra-institutional relations in the EU and the development of the Economic Partnership Agreements with sub-Saharan Africa, and BSc in International Economics from Bocconi University. I also conduct policy-oriented research for European institutions through LSE Enterprise, the consulting arm of the School. Recent publications include report on fair trade for the Committee of the Regions; interim report on the EU-Japan Sustainability Impact Assessment for the European Commission; and study on the impact of the economic and financial crisis on EU cohesion for the European Parliament. During 2015/16 I will teach two courses at the LSE: International Political Economy and Government, Public Policy, and Politics of the EU.
