Professor Roland Erne is Jean Monnet Chair of European Integration and Employment Relations at Univerity College Dublin.In 2017, Erne has been awarded one of only two European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grants across all disciplines presented to Irish based researchers under the 2016 ERC funding round. Erne received this award for a research project entitled Labour Politics and the EU's New Economic Governance Regime (European Unions), which aims to explore the challenges and possibilities that the EU's new governance regime poses to labour movements and the methodological nationalism in the field.Roland Erne is a graduate of the Freie Universität Berlin and the Institut d'études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po). He obtained his PhD in social and political sciences at the European University Institute in Florence.
