Engaging with Local Stakeholders - Surrey's Post-Covid Recovery Report

Webinar

This event sees the launch of the University of Surrey's in-depth report entitled: 'Charting Surrey's Post-Covid Rescue, Recovery & Growth'.

Commissioned by the Future Economy Surrey Commission, this comprehensive repot incorporates detailed analysis and strategic recommendations gathered from key business, healthcare, aviation and knowledge economy stakeholders from across Surrey between June-October 2020.

Chaired by former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond, the Future Economy Surrey Commission has drawn upon the extensive data and analysis within the report in its various recommendations to ensure Surrey's overall recovery.

Taking place online, this launch event brings together the report's authors, representatives from Surrey County Council and the Commission, a number of the local and national decision-makers who contributed to the report, as well as key stakeholders from the four 'clusters' explored including business, healthcare, aviation and knowledge economy voices.

In addition to providing vital insights on Surrey's ability to respond to Covid, the event itself supports the broader goal of demonstrating how universities can engage more fruitfully with local government, local stakeholders and local communities alike.

In this respect this event aims to demonstrate just how crucial the link between academia, policy makers and industry leaders really is and how shared analysis, outreach, networking and knowledge exchange are just some of the aspects of University life that shape contemporary research and innovation.

With contributions from leading Principal Investigators at the University of Surrey and their collaborators and commissioners at Surrey County Council, this event offers insights into how and why university research needs to work even more closely with local partners in government, business, community and society.

Confirmed speakers include:

Professor Max Lu - Vice Chancellor, University of Surrey

Philip Hammond - Chair, Future Economy Surrey Commission

Tim Oliver ( Leader) and other representatives from Surrey County Council

Leading stakeholders from business, aviation, healthcare and the knowledge economy, as well as national decision makers.

Providing an overview of the enormous range of existing county-wide connections, little of which is genuinely known, the event will also focus on the great potential out there for new and beneficial areas of interaction.

Project based presentations will be shared along with the launch of a key report and networking time at the end for Q&A.

This event will take place online.

The joining instructions will be sent to all registered attendees on the morning of the event.
