UACES 49th Annual Conference
As always, social activities will complement the UACES Conference’s rich academic programme. These include:
- Welcome and networking reception
- The Graduate Forum drinks reception for postgraduate students and early-career researchers
- The Conference Dinner and Awards Ceremony
- Sightseeing Bus Tour (information below)
All activities are included in the registration fee, except the Conference Dinner and the sightseeing activity; these can be booked when registering for the conference, or separately after you register.
Sightseeing Bus Tour
After the conference, join us for a 90 minute sightseeing bus tour (with audio commentary available in 11 languages) to discover the main sites and history of Lisbon.
Please note, this is not a hop-on, hop-off bus tour; passengers remain on the bus for the duration of the tour.
The bus tour takes place straight after the close of the conference on Wednesday 4 September at 14.00 (pick-up from the Faculty of Law) and costs 10 GBP. You can book when registering for the conference (here) or separately after you register (by emailing email@example.com).
Annual Conference Dinner

The UACES 49th Annual Conference Dinner takes place at the Estufa Real in Lisbon's Ajuda Botanical Gardens.
The gardens will provide a wonderful setting for our event on this late summer's evening. The evening will begin with a drinks reception followed by a three course meal and tea and coffee.
During the Conference Dinner, we will hold the UACES Awards Ceremony to celebrate our members’ achievements, including the winners of the Best PhD Thesis Prize, Best Book Prize, and the Lifetime Achievement Award in European Studies.
Dinner tickets can be booked on the ConfTool registration form at the same time as registering for the conference, or separately after registration by emailing admin[at]uaces.org.

Starter: Oven roasted vegetables creamed soup scented with basil leaves
Vegetarian Starter: Oven roasted vegetables creamed soup scented with basil leaves
Main Course: Chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella and tomato confit, garnished with sautéed spinach and “duchése” potatoes
Vegetarian Main Course: Escalope de Seitan accompanied with tomato gratin
Dessert: Chocolate mousse with almond “praliné”
