The Europe in the Archives / Europe in the Future project was co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. The project was implemented to celebrate the 50th anniversary of UACES and mark the deposit of the UACES archives at the Historical Archives of the European Union. Listed below is a summary of all the events that were run under the auspices of the project as well as the outputs it produced.

Special Section in the Journal of Contemporary European Research

In November 2017, UACES published a special section in JCER 13:4. The special section was titled 'What's in an Anniversary: UACES and European Studies at 50' and featured interviews with key stakeholders in UACES's development as an association. The special section featured video footage alongside more traditional written analysis and was the first time that JCER had published multimedia content.

Kick-off Event & Reception, 4 September 2016

The kick-off event took place during the UACES AGM in London. UACES Executive Director Emily Linnemann and Chair, Helen Drake, announced the funding for the project and laid out its parameters and the plans for the future.

First Look at the Archives, 27 April - 5 May 2017

UACES member Quincy Cloet received funding to visit the UACES archives which are newly-deposited in the Historical Archives of the European Union in Florence. He later presented his research at the 'Europe in the Archives / Europe in the Future' conference held in Florence from 12-13 October 2017.

Looking Backwards to Go Forwards? Europe at a Crossroads?, 3-4 July 2017

This 2-day research conference was held at Newcastle University and welcomed students from across Europe and the world to present their original research to their peers.

Academics & Activisim: The Role of Academics in Times of Crisis, 4 September 2017

A plenary session at the UACES 47th Annual Conference in Krakow examining the role of academics within national and international politics. Speakers included:
