College of Europe

The College of Europe, founded in 1949 and based in Bruges and Natolin (Warsaw), is a centre of academic excellence preparing individuals to work and live in an international environment. The College of Europe focuses on postgraduate European studies in the legal, economic, political, international relations and interdisciplinary domains, while also providing a range of tailor-made seminars and training courses targeted at executives and public sector officials.
UACES supports the College of Europe in the recruitment of students from the United Kingdom for the Master’s Programmes at the College’s Bruges and Natolin campuses. UACES provides administrative support to the UK Selection Committee which awards scholarships. Enquiries about the application procedure should be directed to UACES (admin@uaces.org).
Funding
The UK Government has made a generous allocation of scholarships for students from the United Kingdom, a number being reserved for those domiciled in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The awards are currently under review. In the past they have been worth up to € 21.000 (free of bank transaction costs) and cover tuition (€ 14.000) and board and lodging in a student residence of the College (€ 7.000 for the Bruges campus and € 5.000 for the Natolin campus - except meals on Sundays and on public holidays in Bruges). Please see the How to Apply page for further details.
Academic Programmes
In Bruges, students enrol in one of four academic departments: European Economic Studies, European Legal Studies, European Political and Administrative Studies, or EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies. There is a possibility for certain students in law or economics to participate in the European Law and Economic Analysis Specialisation. There is also a possibility for certain students in economics to participate in the specialisation in European Economic Integration and Business. As a rule, students take one course each semester in European General Studies.
At Natolin (Warsaw), the study programme analyses the process of European integration from a pluridisciplinary perspective. After having covered the historical, political, economic and legal foundations of European integration in the first semester, students specialise during the second semester in a specific thematic major (Governance in the EU, Single Market, The EU as a Regional Actor, The EU as a Global Actor), which also follows the pluridisciplinary approach.
