The challenges surrounding the development and implementation of Sustainable Development (SD) policy are being debated almost daily. This is especially true within the policy making circles of the European Union (EU), where policy makers grapple with the relationships between diverse issues such as energy security, climate change, fisheries and the Lisbon Strategy.
