European Policies Research Centre (University of Strathclyde): Professor/Reader in Regional Economic Development & Policy

The European Policies Research Centre (EPRC) is seeking to appoint a Professor/Reader in Regional Economic Development and Policy to play a leading role in a new phase of academic and policy research and income generation within EPRC.

 

Applicants need to have a distinctive mix of skills and experience, with evidence of: the ability to lead policy research, including an understanding of how to engage with policymakers, generate funding, and write for policy audiences; a track record of academic research; an international outlook, primarily in Europe, in terms of research and other activity; and the management potential to contribute to the development of EPRC and the newly-established School of Government & Public Policy of which EPRC is now part.

European Studies Programme (King's College London): Lecturer in European Studies (1 year fixed term)

The successful candidate will become part of the European Studies Programme within the School of Humanities. S/he will have responsibilities for the teaching and administration of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in European Studies, including the MA in European Public Policy jointly run with the Department of Political Economy. Furthermore, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of a vibrant research environment for European Studies at King's by publishing in the respective field.

 

Modules to be taught will focus primarily on European integration, EU institutions and public policy. It is envisaged that they will include in particular the second year BA course Integration of the EU (EU03), the 4th year course EU in the International System (EU19) and the course EU: History, Institutions and Politics (M202).  It is desirable that the successful candidate has some relevant teaching experience in European public policy, integration or institutions and shows potential as a researcher in these areas. The post is fixed-term from October 2010 until September 2011.

 

The appointment will be made on Grade 6, contribution point 31, currently £33,070 per annum, inclusive of £2,323 London Allowance, per annum.  Benefits include an annual season ticket loan scheme and a final salary superannuation scheme.
