Kamala is a senior research member at Istanbul Commerce University Rectorate Project Management Center. She is also a postdoctoral research fellow at Istanbul University, Department of History. Her current research looks at the transformation of international order under the impact of rising non-Western powers such as Russia, China, India etc. Pursuing this research agenda she has recently contributed to an edited volume project with Istanbul University Press with a chapter entitled "Russia's Greater Eurasia Partnership: the search for an identity in the emerging multi-order system". She holds a PhD from Gazi University, Ankara. Her thesis focused on the European Union's Eastern Partnership initiative. She has several publications in the area of the European Union's policies toward the eastern neighbours. Kamala obtained her bachelor's degree in Political Science and a master's degree in International Relations from the Academy of Public Administration in Azerbaijan. She was a visiting MA researcher at the Institute of Public Administration for Turkey and the Middle East in Ankara and an exchange PhD student at Tallinn University, Estonia.
