Dr Tobin has good experience of engaging with the media. This experience developed rapidly as a student, when he was interviewed by Times Higher Education magazine and local ITV and BBC news through his role as Students' Union President. He has published a number of magazine and comment pieces in the media.

Dr Paul Tobin is a Lecturer in Politics at the University of Manchester. There, he researchers comparative, environmental, and European politics, where he also teaches on these topics.Outside his current research, Paul is the Honorary Secretary of the Political Studies Association, where he leads on supporting and expanding the membership of the Association. He is also one of the UK's representatives on the Management Committee of INOGOV, an international research collaboration focusing on climate governance innovation.Paul has been a Visiting Research Fellow at Heidelberg University, Germany, Lund University, Sweden and Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium.He has been lucky to win a number of prizes during his career, including: The UACES Best PhD Thesis Prize; The BISA-HEA PGWT of the Year; The PSA Specialist Group of the Year; The YUSU PGWT of the Year; and the Thomas Dickinson Memorial Prize for Political Analysis.Prior to starting his Lectureship, Paul was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of York, where he researched the impact of austerity on European environmental policy. The project was funded by the Leverhulme Trust, and led by Dr Charlotte Burns.
