Biography

Dr Sanchez-Barrueco investigates EU institutions and policies, tackling issues of institution design, performance evaluation, and public accountability and integrity, all of which in the framework of multilevel governance. A legal scholar by training (BA & PhD in Law, MA in EU & International Law from UCL-Louvain), she has also a strong background in political science (MA in EU Public Administration from the College of Europe). Dr Sanchez-Barrueco has provided specialized expertise to national and international public bodies, notably the UK HoL (on budgetary implications of Brexit), the IOM (on outsourced Schengen visas) and the EP (on budgetary control, public communication strategies in complex areas, and criminal prosecution of financial crimes). Dr Sanchez-Barrueco has provided professional training on EU related matters to the national diplomatic academies of Ecuador, Uruguay and Chile. Dr Sanchez-Barrueco co-founded EUFINACCO Research Network (European Financial Accountability), with +50 members in +25 EU states since 2015. The EU Commission awarded her a Jean Monnet Module on Students' Awareness of Public Integrity and Accountability (2017-2020). Dr Sanchez-Barrueco is a member (elected) of UACES executive committee (2017-2019).
