Biography

Katjana Gattermann is assistant professor of political communication and journalism at AScoR and also affiliated with ACCESS EUROPE at the University of Amsterdam. She is founding director of the Erasmus Academic Network on Parliamentary Democracy in Europe (PADEMIA). Her research interests comprise political communication and journalism, political behaviour, public opinion and legislative behaviour in the EU. Her work feeds into debates about the legitimacy and accountability of politics within and across the EU. She has recently been awarded an individual research grant by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) for the project entitled 'Facing Europe: The personalization of European Union politics in news coverage and its consequences for democracy'. Her work has appeared in journals such as the European Journal of Political Research, European Union Politics, the Journal of European Public Policy, and West European Politics.
