Paul James Cardwell is Professor of Law at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. He studied Law and Politics in the UK, France and Japan. His primary research areas are the external relations of the EU (including sanctions, democracy promotion and Neighbourhood Policy), migration governance and Brexit. He has also researched the academic impact of the Erasmus programme. He has over 70 books, journal articles and other publication in his areas of expertise.
