UACES's 50th Anniversary Celebration

8th December 2017, London

On Friday 8 December 2017, 60 members of UACES across generations and fields of European Studies met at the British Academy to celebrate the association's Golden Anniversary (1967-2017). Amongst those in attendance were Chairs past and present, Lifetime achievement award winners and previous Executive Directors.

Attendees were treated to music from City Strings Duo and speeches from UACES Honorary President Professor Dame Helen Wallace and Chair of the James Madison Charitable Trust, Terry Bishop.

The evening was completed by a series of poetry readings from Dr Paul Stephenson (Maastricht University) who read several poems on the themes of education and Europe as well as an elegy written especially for the occasion: ‘An Ode to UACES’.

The reception was generously sponsored by the James Madison Charitable Trust.
