Quantitative Analysis of the Impact of EU Law on Czech Legal Order
Robert Zbiral, Palacky University
There is a "common-knowledge" notion that about 80 % of national legal orders has its roots in EU law. However, recent researchs for countries such as Germany or France have confirmed that reality is slightly different. Unfortunately, all similar endeavours so far concentrated only on "old" Member States. Based on a newly constructed dataset, presented paper reveals many interesting facts about EU impact on Czech legislation for the period between 2002-2012. Research does not cover only descriptive issues, but also tries to test numerous hypotheses such as easier adoption or lower controversiality of EU-related laws. The selected reseach design uses various methods in order to face methodological obstacles that have been raised in relation to quantitative research of legislative outputs.
