Academic Career Development
London, 23 April 2010
A one-day conference for Early Career Academics currently working in the field of European Studies. The event is designed to support academics in tackling the specific challenges that confront them in the first years of their post.
Both an information-providing exercise as well as a best-practice forum, the event will cover three key areas:
(1) Constructing Grant Applications: advice on the strategy of the application process and reviewing current opportunities
(2) Early Career Development: advice on job applications, defining your role in European Studies, and publishing
(3) Surviving in Academia: Balancing your workload and maintaining a 'work/life' balance.
The conference will provide an opportunity for Early Career Academics to network with other UACES members at various stages of their careers, talk to the speakers and to learn about the current opportunities for new scholars offered by UACES.
This event is NOT aimed at current postgraduate students, who are instead encouraged to participate in the events organised by the UACES Student Forum.
Venue: School of Public Policy, University College London, 29-30 Tavistock Square, London WC1H 9QU
