Getting to Bruges

By air | By train & Eurostar

 

Most delegates to Bruges will be arriving by train via Brussels, or flying into Brussels before transferring onto the train. The train journey from Brussels to Bruges is just under an hour. The two cities are less than 100km apart.

 

For the more intrepid, there are various ferry services to Zeebrugge, Ostend & Dunkerque.

By Air

The most useful airports for travelling to Bruges are Brussels Airport or Brussels South Charleroi Airport.

 

At Brussels Airport, there are regular train servies from the train station below the terminal. At Charleroi, there is a very short bus transfer to the train station. Please refer to the airport websites for further information.

 

There is also a small airport on the coast at Ostend.

By Train & Eurostar

Eurostar services terminate at Bruxelles Midi where you can transfer onto a train to Bruges. Eurostar tickets include free onward travel within Belgium (as long as you use your ticket on the same date as the rest of your outward or return journey).

 

Paris Gare du Nord to Bruxelles Midi in less than 90 minutes.

 

London St Pancras to Bruxelles Midi in less than 2 hours.

 

Bruxelles Midi to Bruges in less than 1 hour.

 

The excellent www.bahn.de is great for planning any journey by train.

 

In Flemish, Bruxelles Midi is called Brussel Zuid. Bruges is called Brugge.
