Where is Angers?
Angers is located in the picturesque Loire Valley on the river Maine. It is 90 minutes* by train from Paris. Scroll down the page for more detailed travel information.

ESSCA can be reached using bus line 1 or bus line 8 (see bus maps below). It takes approximately 20 minutes by bus from the city centre. Go to the main entrance and follow the signs from there. The conference check-in desk will be open from 08:45 am on Thursday 3 September onwards.
* 90 minutes is the quickest train service. Some train services will take longer.
Getting there by train (Angers St Laud)
By TGV high-speed train from Paris Montparnasse:
- Travel time 90 minutes

By TGV high-speed train from Charles de Gaulle airport (Paris):
- Travel time 2 hours 30 minutes
- 4 direct departures per day
Paris-Montparnasse train station can be reached:
- for travellers arriving by Eurostar on Paris-Gare du Nord by metro line 4 direction 'PORTE D'ORLEANS' (approx. 20 minutes travel time)
- for travellers arriving on Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport by the hourly Air France shuttle bus (13 euros, travel time approx. 50 minutes) or by RER line B to 'CHATELET-LES HALLES', then change to Metro line 4 direction 'PORTE D'ORLEANS' (total travel time min. 45 min.).

for travellers arriving on Paris-Orly airport best by the Air France shuttle bus (each half hour, 8 euros, travel time approx. 35 minutes).
By Eurostar (tickets bookable four months maximum in advance).
- Through-tickets are available from several cities (in the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands, plus Cologne and Aachen in Germany), directly to Angers, and may work out cheaper.
- Tickets may be via Paris (change stations as above) or via Lille (no need to change stations). The Lille route usually takes approximately 30 minutes longer.

Getting there by air
Eastern Airways operates four flights a week from Aberdeen, Leeds-Bradford and Newcastle via Southampton to Angers Loire aéroport (www.easternairways.com). Angers Loire aéroport is located approx. 20 minutes from the city. A coach shuttle to the city centre is available for 16 euros (return trip). Details can be found at www.angersloireaeroport.fr
The regional Nantes Atlantique airport is served by a number of national and international airlines, including Air France, Ryanair, Easyjet, Aer Arann, Iberia and Atlas Blue. From Nantes Atlantique airport take the shuttle bus to the Nantes city centre (6.20 €), then the TGV to Angers (travel time 30 minutes).

Getting around Angers
The conference venue is easily accessible by local public transport, with bus lines 1 and 8 stopping at ESSCA. Please come to the UACES stand in the hall of the Train Station on Wednesday 2 September (10.00 - 23.00) or Thursday 3 Sept (09.00 - 15.00) to collect your free Bus Pass available for registered delegates.

Onward travel to the AFSP conference in Grenoble
There are four very convenient TGV links on Sunday 6 September, which do not require to change train stations in Paris. Total travel time is 5 hours. Please see the TGV website for the most up-to-date information.
Onward travel to the ECPR conference at Potsdam University
The ECPR conference will be held at Potsdam University, 10-12 September 2009.
The City Night Line train leaves Paris East for Berlin Spandau at 20.20 hrs each night. The S-Bahn (urban rail train) connects Berlin and Potsdam Hauptbahnhof. Travel time is about 35 minutes. Please check the online Berlin journery planner for the most up-to-date information.
