Call for Paper and Panels
The deadline for submission of proposals is Friday 23 January 2009.
What is the Research Conference and what should I expect?
At Angers, there will be a number of Research Sessions embedded within the conference programme which together, comprise the Research Conference. During each Session there will be a number of different Research Panels; as these panels will be held in parallel you will need to pick and choose which panels to attend. The diverse nature of European Studies is such that not all panels will be of interest to all participants.
An integral part of the Research Conference is for delegates to take the initiative and to communicate with each other, both before and after the conference. To enable this, modified email addresses will be published on the conference website along with the abstracts of the papers.
All paper-givers are asked to read the
guidelines for presenting a paper.
By submitting a paper proposal, you are making a FIRM commitment towards attending the conference and for being available to present your paper on ANY day of the conference.
We ask that you investigate the cost of attending the conference before submitting your proposal. Paper-givers, Discussants and Chairs are expected to pay a registration fee to attend the conference. We will publish the fees to this website as soon as they have been finalised.
Invitation for Proposals
The invitation is for 'Pre-organised Panel Proposals' on any European studies related topic OR for 'Individual Paper Proposals' on any European studies related topic.
Our preference is for 'Pre-organised Panel Proposals', however, 'Individual Paper Proposals' are still welcome and will be considered.
We encourage contributions from all academic disciplines, including law, economics, geography, history, sociology, public policy and politics. We also encourage papers from established academics, practitioners and well-prepared doctoral students.
If you are looking for colleagues to form a pre-organised panel we suggest the following:
Use the UACES email list
Search www.ExpertOnEurope.com
Search the Papers Archive
Consult members of the UACES Committee
Use third-party email lists and networks
Pre-organised Panel Proposals
Panel Proposals should be submitted by the person organising the panel using the
Panel Proposal form. The Panel Organiser should collect all the required information on behalf of the paper-givers. Paper-givers on pre-organised panels do not need to submit anything directly to UACES.
If you are organising a panel, please do make the paper-givers aware that there are registration fees to attend the conference before including their papers in your panel proposal.
Individual Paper Proposals
If you are not part of a Pre-organised Panel, you should submit your Individual Paper Proposal directly to UACES using the
Paper Proposal form. Instructions on how to submit your Proposal are on the form.
As part of the proposal, you will be asked to include an abstract (up to 200 words) which should contain a clear summary of your arguments. If your Paper Proposal is accepted, the abstract will appear on this website.
For papers with more than one author, the paper proposal should be submitted by the person who is planning to present the paper at the conference. Your co-author(s) will be recognised on the conference programme, but for the purpose of processing the paper proposals, we only need one submission.
