The JCMS Scholarship competition 2009 is designed to provide mobility to existing post-doctoral scholars OR postgraduate students from India or China so that they can undertake research in an EU member state or candidate state. The scholarships are not for students looking for funding to enrol in a postgraduate course.

The JCMS Scholarship competition has now closed (deadline: 10 November 2008).

What to apply for

The JCMS Scholarships are available to pay for:

  • travel to and from your research destination

  • accommodation at your destination

  • food at your destination

  • local transport at your destination


  • All other ancillary costs are the responsibility of the Scholar.

    How much to apply for

    There is an overall maximum of £3,000 (three thousand pounds sterling) available per Scholarship.

    You can apply for up to £120 (one hundred and twenty pounds sterling) per week towards the cost of food and local transport (combined).

    Please note that the final amount offered may be less than in your application

    Eligibility criteria

  • You must be a UACES member (you must be a Student or Individual member of UACES; please note that membership of the EuroResearch email list or the UACES Student Forum does not constitute UACES membership)


  • You must be a post-doctoral researcher OR postgraduate PhD research student


  • You must be currently based at a university or research institute in India or China and wishing to undertake field research on aspects of EU integration


  • You must be studying an aspect of European Integration, or relations between the EU and the rest of the world or comparative regionalism or federalism using the EU as a comparator


  • Scholarship funds must be used before 31 August 2009


  • There is no restriction on nationality.
