The paper deals with challenges of British membership in the European Union (EU). There are currently huge discussions about essential elements of the membership in Great Britain, and even the membership itself is being constantly questioned. Because of that, the subject of the paper raises many questions to answer. Currently debated EU Referendum Bill is one of the key parts of the discussions. The aim of the paper is to define possible future scenarios of the British relationship with the European integration. The author analyses main aspects of the relationship, as for example British euroscepticism or selective approach to European policies. There is also included the phenomenon of "awkward partner". According to the above stated facts, the author does not expect that the complicated relationship will in the coming years significantly change.
