Cleavages in Europe's Political Economy:
Socio-economic
Preferences of Actors,
Sectors, and Country Size
Effects
Organisers: Benedicta Marzinotto
Date: June 2008 (exact date tbc)
Venue: Udine, Italy
The aim of the workshop is to bring together young scholars working in the field of European and comparative political economy to facilitate the exchange of ideas on the status of European economic governance and, possibly, allow the formulation of meaningful policy recommendations.
The field of European political economy is in a flux. Whilst historically the objectives of economic European integration had never been questioned (i.e. liberalization, the promotion of prosperity and cohesion), recent times have witnessed a gradual shift in preferences vis-ā-vis economic integration, following the mixed success of EMU, that risks threatening the sense of community in the EU.
