European Commissioners and the Political Representation of "Europe"

A UACES-sponsored Workshop is being held on Friday 23 June 2000 at the Department of European Studies, Loughborough University, UK from 10 am to 5.30 pm.  It is co-funded by the CNRS (Project – L’identité européenne en questions) and UACES, and will be hosted by the Department of European Studies, University of Loughborough

The workshop will be on the subject of 'The European Commissioners and the Political Representation of Europe', and we wish to invite UACES members to attend.  This workshop will examine and develop the interim findings of an ongoing research project on the European Commission’s political dimension. The workshop will focus on the study of commissioners in their political guise and work.

The speakers are Andy Smith (Institut d’Études politiques de Bordeaux, Jean Joana (L’Université de Montpellier), Michelle Cini (University of Bristol), Chris Shore (University of London, Goldsmith’s College), Christopher Meyer (University of Cambridge), Olivier Baisnée (L’Institut d’Études politiques de Rennes), Didier Georgakakis (L’Institut d’Études politiques de Strasbourg), Anne Corbett (London School of Economics) and Helen Drake (University of Loughborough).

NB There is no charge for UACES members for attendance. We are able to refund up to 50% of the travel costs incurred by graduate students (who are also Associate Members of UACES).
