EU Economic Government: Revising the Rules?
The
aim of this workshop is to bring together economists and political scientists
working on 'economic governance' issues in the EU and to explore the economic
and political dimensions of the decisions of 2002 to relax the application of
the Stability Pact with regard to several countries and other demands for
reform of the operation of EMU.
Political scientists, for example, will be interested in what the
recent decisions demonstrate about the political nature of Economic Government
as a manifestation of the 'semi-sovereignty' game and rule-bound
intergovernmentalism.
