Organisers: Andrew Geddes, University of Liverpool and Dora Kostakopoulou, University of Manchester

Meeting 1:   Theorising The Communitarisation of Migration, Liverpool, May 17 2002
Meeting 2:   Manchester, 11-13 April 2003
Meeting 3:
Liverpool, 5 December 2003

Building on the success of the first meeting at Liverpool University, the second meeting of the UACES Study Group on the Evolving European Migration Law and Policy will take place in Manchester. We particularly interested in four themes: (1) theorising migration in the EU; (2) analyses of the evolution of European Law and policy over the last six years; (3) theorising ‘Europeanisation’ and empirical studies of the ‘Europeanisation’ of aspects of migration policy in a single Member State or in a comparative perspective; (4) the impact of EU developments on patterns of civic incorporation, anti-discrimination policy, undocumented migration and right- wing extremism. We welcome both theoretical and empirical papers that focus on any of these themes, and would like to encourage postgraduate  students to apply.
