European Studies Research Students' Conference
Please scroll down the page for further information -->
| London, Monday 5 November 2007 |
Ref:0712 |
This one-day conference is aimed at research students of all levels who are engaged in the field of European related studies. The emphasis of the conference will be placed on tackling the specific challenges which arise at varying stages of the doctoral process. This event offers an ideal introduction to the UACES community as well as an opportunity to meet fellow academics who are engaged in related fields of research.
The conference is hosted by the European Commission Representation in the UK and the UK Office of the European Parliament, London.
Programme
Please refer to
the UACES Student
Forum website to view the most recent programme. UACES reserves the right to
make changes to the programme if necessary.
Venue
The address of the conference venue is: 8 Storey's Gate, London SW1P 3AT. The
closest tube station, St James's Park, is a 5-minute walk away.
Registration
To register for the conference, please complete
the registration form.
The registration fee is £25.00 for UACES members
and £40.00 for non-UACES members. Membership of the UACES
Student Forum or the EuroResearch email list does not constitute membership of UACES. It will NOT be possible to
register on the day of the conference. Lunch and refreshments are included in
the registration fee.
The registration deadline is Thursday 1st November.
Funding
The conference is a teaching conference. As such,
many Universities (not all), will pay the registration fee on your behalf if
they deem that the conference is an appropriate event for you to be attending.
Please check with your supervisor or Department Secretary to find out what the
situation is at your University.
Parallel Sessions
On the programme, you will see that some of the sessions are in
parallel and you will not be able to attend both. On the registration form,
please indicate which of the parallel sessions you would like to attend - you
can change your mind on the day, but the information helps us to allocate a room
with enough capacity for each session.
Travel Assistance
UACES student members are eligible to
claim back
some of their travel expenses from attending this conference.
UACES Student Forum Elections
During the
conference, there will be elections for places on the Committee of the UACES Student Forum. Any student
attending the conference or on the EuroResearch email list is eligible to vote.
If you wish to stand for election you should contact any of the current UACES
Student Forum Committee members. Any student may nominate themselves to stand for
election, although it is expected that any successful candidate should join
UACES (if they are not already a member). Further information about the
elections will be posted to the Student Forum website.
Navigating around London

the 'from here' link in the speech bubble and then type in the postcode of your
destination (i.e. SW1P 3AT).

need to make their own arrangements for accommodation if they are planning to
stay overnight. In the past, delegates have benefited from discounted rates
occasionally on offer from Travelodge (www.travelodge.co.uk);
