The Enlarged European Union and its Institutions: 'Looking out and Looking in' under the New Constitutional Framework

Cambridge, 8 July 2005

Ref:0532

What are the political and legal implications of the European Union’s recent enlargement and the Constitutional Treaty? How have they affected the EU and what are the future prospects for reform?

This inter-disciplinary conference will look at constitutional issues arising from the Treaty, notably in terms of EU-level democracy and the role of national parliaments from both legal and political science perspectives. It then focuses on decision-making in two key policy areas: foreign & security policy and social policy.

The event is being organised by the Centre for European Legal Studies and the Centre of International Studies, both of the University of Cambridge.

Further information, including the programme can be found on the Centre of International Studies conference page.
