Turkey and the European Union: Membership Prospects and Issues

The conference takes stock
of the post-Helsinki developments in Turkey-EU relations. The aim is twofold:
(i) examine the dynamics unleashed by the Helsinki summit decision of
1999, which declared Turkey as a candidate country;
and
(ii) discuss the likely scenarios for the future of Turkey-EU relations beyond
2004.
